Writing to Encourage

For me as a writer, the most important thing about writing is to encourage others: fellow writers to write more, readers to keep going in the aftermath of the unthinkable, the horrific, and after the breaking of the heart.

Writers and poets, never give up on your dreams of putting your stories and poems out there into the hands of those who need to read those specific words. Don't wait too long until someone else says what you wanted to say. Maybe those words have simmered in your soul even for a decade or more. Others won't say it the way you can and the world will miss out on something incredible.

Dear readers, please give emerging writers a chance to prove we do have a message you haven't yet heard. There's always something new. A new way of looking at the same issues. A new music crafted by syllables and words to a brand new tune. You have heard them so often but never this way. Accompanied by powerful verbs and beautiful words, the stories become something different, something more. They will make you feel. You'll grieve, be mesmerized, uplifted, and encouraged.
